<p>It&#8217;s a mini fan out album using the camera element from <strong><a href="http://shop.scrapmatters.com/happy-snapper-page-kit.html" target="_blank">Happy Snapper</a></strong> digital kit.</p>
<p>Size: approximately 2 x 1.5&#8243;</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3907" title="cvisions_happysnapper_kit_cv" src="http://www.creativityinprogress.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/cvisions_happysnapper_kit_cv.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="600" /></p>
<p>Digital Kit: <strong><a href="http://shop.scrapmatters.com/happy-snapper-page-kit.html" target="_blank">Happy Snapper</a></strong> by <a href="http://blog.captivatedvisions.co.uk/" target="_blank">Captivated Visions</a>. This kit was included in August <strong><a href="http://thedailydigi.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&amp;cPath=1" target="_blank">The Digi Files</a></strong> from <a href="http://thedailydigi.com/in-the-designers-studio-with-rachel-jefferies-of-captivated-visions/" target="_blank"><strong>TheDailyDigi.com</strong></a>.</p>
<p>Tutorial was for <strong><a href="http://thedailydigi.com/playbooks/" target="_blank">August Playbook</a></strong>.</p>
<p>My son took gazillion photos of his hermit crabs, Mr. Stik and Jimmy to celebrate their birthdays and demanded that I printed all of them out. Yeah right! Not happening. So, I selected few of my favorite photos, and printed all in a 11 x 8.5 River Linen paper from <a href="http://www.redrivercatalog.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=SFNT&amp;Store_Code=RRP&amp;AFFIL=creativityinprogress" target="_blank">Red River Paper</a> and made a tiny album. It was a hit! He loved it and was showing it off to his friends. He thanked me many times.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3664" title="CIP20100715_100" src="http://www.creativityinprogress.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/CIP20100715_100.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="400" /><br />
Create the clipping masks using the camera element (in Photoshop, select the whole image by Control/Command + click on the layer. Create a new layer. Fill in the color). Multiplicate(?) the masks in separate layers and clip the photos. Make sure to have one mask flip horizontally for the back page.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3665" title="CIP20100716_104" src="http://www.creativityinprogress.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/CIP20100716_104.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="400" /><br />
Cut all the pages with scissors.</p>
<p><img title="CIP20100716_115" src="http://www.creativityinprogress.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/CIP20100716_115.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="400" /><br />
Glue the last image to the reverse side of the back cover page.</p>
<p><img title="CIP20100716_117" src="http://www.creativityinprogress.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/CIP20100716_117.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="400" /><br />
Make a hole on the pages. Take out the handle from the binder clip and add the album pages (add few pages at a time).</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3903" title="CIP20100716_129" src="http://www.creativityinprogress.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/CIP20100716_129.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="400" /><br />
Add clear circle sticker on the lense.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3904" title="CIP20100716_136" src="http://www.creativityinprogress.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/CIP20100716_136.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="400" /></p>
<p>We bought both hermit crabs two months ago. Mr. Stik from Outer Bank, NC, and Jimmy from a local PetSmart store. Jimmy was more active and friendly one. He even survived a fall from a dining room table after this photo shoot in July.</p>
<p>He died today. *sniff* *sniff*</p>

<p>My daughter is starting school tomorrow and my son will on Monday. I can&#8217;t believe the summer vacation is over already! How am I going to wake up early from now on!!! Hehe.</p>
<p>During the break, I wanted to take photos everyday, but I kept forgetting to take photos a lot of times. So, I gave up on day 75 (89 days of summer vacation). I was getting tired of taking photos of the same stuff over and over again and didn&#8217;t see the point of photo journalling. I want to try it again in the future though. Perhaps, I&#8217;ll have a better idea to take photos of ordinary things in different perspective.</p>
<p>This <a href="http://www.creativityinprogress.com/blog/2010/07/hanging-out-with-mickey-d/" target="_blank">4.75 x 4.75 handmade album</a> was created with July <strong>The Digi File</strong> from <a href="http://thedailydigi.com/" target="_blank"><strong>TheDailyDigi.com</strong></a>. And the tutorial was for <strong><a href="http://thedailydigi.com/playbooks/" target="_blank">July Playbook</a></strong>.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3600" title="CIP20100625_117" src="http://www.creativityinprogress.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/CIP20100625_117.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="600" /><br />
Cover.<br />
Digital paper (white polka dot on black) from AUDacious designs <strong>&#8220;fresh&#8221; kit</strong> (from July The Digi File).<br />
&#8220;Summer&#8221; was hand written by me (gasp!!!) using a Wacom pen tool to copy the letter style from <a href="http://www.creativityinprogress.com/blog/2010/07/hanging-out-with-mickey-d/" target="_blank">Emily&#8217;s Hybrid@Home 5, 31 Day Calendar Layered Template</a> (This is no longer available.)<br />
&#8220;2010&#8243; from the template (Combined 20 and 10) and recolored.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3590" title="CIP20100624_059" src="http://www.creativityinprogress.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/CIP20100624_059.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="400" /></p>
<p>The template came in 4.75 x 4.75, so I created 9.5 x 9.5 document for two side-by-side layouts to print on 12&#215;12 paper.</p>
<p><img title="CIP20100624_069" src="http://www.creativityinprogress.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/CIP20100624_069.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="400" /><br />
Score, cut, and fold in the middle.</p>
<p><img title="CIP20100624_083" src="http://www.creativityinprogress.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/CIP20100624_083.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="400" /><br />
Using double sided adhesive sheet and attach all the pages. Use brayer to smooth out the surface.</p>
<p><img title="CIP20100624_092" src="http://www.creativityinprogress.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/CIP20100624_092.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="400" /></p>
<p>Measure the spine.</p>
<p><img title="CIP20100625_096" src="http://www.creativityinprogress.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/CIP20100625_096.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p>Make the cover. Score and fold the spine, and don&#8217;t forget to score a line on the back cover (1.25&#8243; spacing on my sample. I think .75&#8243; would&#8217;ve worked better). This will prevent the book from warping when you open it up. Look at children&#8217;s board books for reference.</p>
<p><img title="CIP20100625_098" src="http://www.creativityinprogress.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/CIP20100625_098.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="400" /><br />
Inside the back cover, attach the double side adhesive sheet, make sure not to add the adhesive on the extra score space.</p>
<p><img title="CIP20100625_101" src="http://www.creativityinprogress.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/CIP20100625_101.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="400" /><br />
Finished spine.</p>
<p><img title="CIP20100625_108" src="http://www.creativityinprogress.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/CIP20100625_108.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="400" /><br />
The book opens flat (Lay-flat binding).</p>

<p>Two days into my kids summer vacation, I realized that I was taking photos everyday since their break, Hehe. So, I decided to take photos everyday till they go back to school. I&#8217;m on Day 42, and it&#8217;s so embarrassing how often I took them to fast food places. I almost don&#8217;t want to document their life. I&#8217;m afraid they&#8217;ll remember me as a lazy mommy who always feed them junk foods. In my defense, they get to exercise at the indoor playground in the restaurants. Hehe.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3682" title="hah5_preview800_emilypowers" src="http://www.creativityinprogress.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/hah5_preview800_emilypowers.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="600" /></p>
<p>I used Emily Powers&#8217; <strong><a href="http://thedailydigi.com/in-the-designers-studio-with-emily-powers/" target="_blank">Hybrid@Home 5 &#8211; 31 Day Calendar Layered .PSD Template</a></strong> to create this album. This template is only available till end of this month at <a href="http://thedailydigi.com/" target="_blank"><strong>TheDailyDigi.com</strong></a>. It&#8217;s a part of July <strong><a href="http://thedailydigi.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&amp;cPath=1&amp;products_id=113" target="_blank">THE DIGI FILES</a></strong> for $5!</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3683" title="photology2.3_preview_emilypowers" src="http://www.creativityinprogress.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/photology2.3_preview_emilypowers.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="600" /></p>
<p>You&#8217;ll also get this photo texture set and 5 full kits and templates by other designers. Emily Powers is closing her store at the end of July, so get her goodies while it is available. More information on <strong><a href="http://thedailydigi.com/in-the-designers-studio-with-emily-powers/" target="_blank">theDailyDigi.com</a></strong>.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3680" title="CIP20100625_119-Edit" src="http://www.creativityinprogress.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/CIP20100625_119-Edit1.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="600" /></p>
<p>Oopsie~ I forgot to hide the unused layer in the Photoshop, and &#8220;+ PICTURE CAPTION HERE&#8221; layer was printed on my son&#8217;s red shirt, LOL. I&#8217;m too cheap to reprint so I just left it as it is. It almost looks like a part of shirt, doesn&#8217;t it? Hehe. A note to myself. Proofread before print.</p>
<p>Tutorial on how to make this book will be available at <strong><a href="http://thedailydigi.com/" target="_blank">TDD</a></strong> on July 27 (TheDailyDigi Playbook). I&#8217;ll also post it on my blog sometime in August. =)</p>
<p>Stay cool everybody. My dear boy got burn from walking bare foot at an outdoor pool today. Poor thing, it was bleeding. =(</p>
