It’s a mini fan out album using the camera element from Happy Snapper digital kit.
Size: approximately 2 x 1.5″

Digital Kit: Happy Snapper by Captivated Visions. This kit was included in August The Digi Files from TheDailyDigi.com.
Tutorial was for August Playbook.
My son took gazillion photos of his hermit crabs, Mr. Stik and Jimmy to celebrate their birthdays and demanded that I printed all of them out. Yeah right! Not happening. So, I selected few of my favorite photos, and printed all in a 11 x 8.5 River Linen paper from Red River Paper and made a tiny album. It was a hit! He loved it and was showing it off to his friends. He thanked me many times.

Create the clipping masks using the camera element (in Photoshop, select the whole image by Control/Command + click on the layer. Create a new layer. Fill in the color). Multiplicate(?) the masks in separate layers and clip the photos. Make sure to have one mask flip horizontally for the back page.

Cut all the pages with scissors.

Glue the last image to the reverse side of the back cover page.

Make a hole on the pages. Take out the handle from the binder clip and add the album pages (add few pages at a time).

Add clear circle sticker on the lense.

We bought both hermit crabs two months ago. Mr. Stik from Outer Bank, NC, and Jimmy from a local PetSmart store. Jimmy was more active and friendly one. He even survived a fall from a dining room table after this photo shoot in July.
He died today. *sniff* *sniff*
Photo Everyday Mini Album

My daughter is starting school tomorrow and my son will on Monday. I can’t believe the summer vacation is over already! How am I going to wake up early from now on!!! Hehe.
During the break, I wanted to take photos everyday, but I kept forgetting to take photos a lot of times. So, I gave up on day 75 (89 days of summer vacation). I was getting tired of taking photos of the same stuff over and over again and didn’t see the point of photo journalling. I want to try it again in the future though. Perhaps, I’ll have a better idea to take photos of ordinary things in different perspective.
This 4.75 x 4.75 handmade album was created with July The Digi File from TheDailyDigi.com. And the tutorial was for July Playbook.

Cover.
Digital paper (white polka dot on black) from AUDacious designs “fresh” kit (from July The Digi File).
“Summer” was hand written by me (gasp!!!) using a Wacom pen tool to copy the letter style from Emily’s Hybrid@Home 5, 31 Day Calendar Layered Template (This is no longer available.)
“2010″ from the template (Combined 20 and 10) and recolored.

The template came in 4.75 x 4.75, so I created 9.5 x 9.5 document for two side-by-side layouts to print on 12×12 paper.

Score, cut, and fold in the middle.

Using double sided adhesive sheet and attach all the pages. Use brayer to smooth out the surface.

Measure the spine.

Make the cover. Score and fold the spine, and don’t forget to score a line on the back cover (1.25″ spacing on my sample. I think .75″ would’ve worked better). This will prevent the book from warping when you open it up. Look at children’s board books for reference.

Inside the back cover, attach the double side adhesive sheet, make sure not to add the adhesive on the extra score space.

Finished spine.

The book opens flat (Lay-flat binding).

Two days into my kids summer vacation, I realized that I was taking photos everyday since their break, Hehe. So, I decided to take photos everyday till they go back to school. I’m on Day 42, and it’s so embarrassing how often I took them to fast food places. I almost don’t want to document their life. I’m afraid they’ll remember me as a lazy mommy who always feed them junk foods. In my defense, they get to exercise at the indoor playground in the restaurants. Hehe.

I used Emily Powers’ Hybrid@Home 5 – 31 Day Calendar Layered .PSD Template to create this album. This template is only available till end of this month at TheDailyDigi.com. It’s a part of July THE DIGI FILES for $5!

You’ll also get this photo texture set and 5 full kits and templates by other designers. Emily Powers is closing her store at the end of July, so get her goodies while it is available. More information on theDailyDigi.com.

Oopsie~ I forgot to hide the unused layer in the Photoshop, and “+ PICTURE CAPTION HERE” layer was printed on my son’s red shirt, LOL. I’m too cheap to reprint so I just left it as it is. It almost looks like a part of shirt, doesn’t it? Hehe. A note to myself. Proofread before print.
Tutorial on how to make this book will be available at TDD on July 27 (TheDailyDigi Playbook). I’ll also post it on my blog sometime in August. =)
Stay cool everybody. My dear boy got burn from walking bare foot at an outdoor pool today. Poor thing, it was bleeding. =(
