Heeheehee. I bet you never expected me to use such a wild image for my project. Heehee. It’s “Man’s Ruin” stamp set from Bombshell. My friend, Stephanie sent me the stamped image. And with her encouragement, I’m playing February Bombshell Blog Hop: Mama Said Knock You Out! It’s to use the punches or diecuts on the creation.

I used the paislee Nestability die to cut the girl image. Colored with colored pencils and ordorless mineral spirits. And used handheld circle and border punches on the back. It’s a gift card holder.

All supplies from the February Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients. And the pink and black color scheme was inspired by TE’s Subscriber Challenge: Choose a pop of color.

Since Stephanie’s blog name is “Pink Star Creations“, I thought pink would be the perfect pop color on this project.

When I started stamping, I was laughing at the crafters who were making boxes, and bags. Didn’t understand why they wasted their time and papers on those. Hehehe. And look at me. I do a lot of 3-d projects. I can’t help it. When I see beautiful stamps, and craft supplies, I feel the need to make it into houses, boxes, bags… someting puffy. It’s all Kelleigh‘s fault. Hehe. If I didn’t discover her wonderful templates to play with for my guest design work for the Purple Onion Design stamps, I wouldn’t be writing this post. Heehee.

I had so much digital scrapbook kits, but didn’t really use them to create hybrid (combining traditional and digital elements) projects. But, I learned a lot from Kelleigh’s tutorials (also on theHybridChick blog) and now I am very comfortable making hybrid stuff. I am a hybrid girl!

I used Mari Koegelenberg‘s Printable CD Card with Additional Pockets and Wraps to create this hybrid card. All other items are from ”From the Files” (theDailyDigi chose one item from each designer’s contributions). BTW, Mari is one of the featured designer at theDailyDigi this month.

I finally finished Kyle’s birthday invitations. I was brainstorming for his cards since June/July, and even had a mock-up, but never got to actually make any invitations. I knew I wanted to make an accordian card, but couldn’t really decide on the cover. And couldn’t really find a place to put the “All Aboard” ticket.

Then, yesterday I was thinking, why not make travel luggage cards? After all, I’ve been doing a lot of 3-d projects lately, why not make my son’s invitation different. Besides, it fits with “train ride to the party” travel theme.

Matchbox Template Set by Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs (I used the large template). Her templates are soooo easy to use, and love using it since she did all the measument and all I have to do is print and cut.

Stamped the cover. After I made this prototype birthday favor backpack (brown lunch bag covered with patterned papers), I was worried about how long it would take for me to make over 20. Stephanie (She was my first blog candy claimer and we became friends =) suggested stamping instead. Brilliant! Thanks Stephanie!

Flip the cover. Glue the bottom and the back part of the luggage. Attach the box.

Attach the ribbon (I used all purpose craft glue) to the cover. Spread/glue Aleen’s Tack-It Over & Over glue on the ribbon. This way, you can open and close the flaps over and over again.

I didn’t put any contact information on the invitation card, because the party place provided it along with “do not sue us if your children get hurt” kind of waiver forms.

Now, I have less than 3 weeks to work on his party favors.

Until I made this card, I didn’t understand why stamp companies release Christmas stamp in summer. I mean why would I want Christmas stamps in July! I have tons of other pretty stamps that I’m dying to get my hands dirty. Winter stamps can wait till end of the year!  But, now that I’ve made few winter cards, I’m liking the idea.

Last Tuesday, I went to my somewhat local stamp company, Angela’s Happy Stamper in Reston, VA. It’s about 20 minutes ride via toll road, but it’s kinda close to an outdoor swimming pool my son loves, so I stoped by the AHS. I had to get few EZ mount foams cuz I was expecting lots of unmounted red rubber stamps from Purple Onion Designs (I won $50 gift certificate from Caardvarks challenge, WOOHOO! BTW, POD is having an ANNIVERSARY SALE right now!).

Well, AHS had a special, spend $30 on new A Muse Palooza products (or was it just any A Muse? Hmmm…) and you will be entered into a drawing to win a goodie bag. Well, I can’t say no to goodie bags, so I bought four new A Muse winter themed stamps even though I had no intention of making any christmas cards till December. I didn’t win the goodie bag (boohoo!), but aren’t these cute!

Just yesterday I found out Cupcake Craft Challenges has a Christmas card challenge, so I decided to use my new A Muse stamps.

Patterned papers: A Muse

Gorilla glue to bind the spine and Tombow Mono and Sakura Quickie Glue for everything else.

Inspired by my kids’ book.

Coloring: Copics;
Snow: Layer and layers of Smooch, Sakura puff, and  glitter pen.

Urmmm… It was my first time using the Gorilla glue to bind a book. And look what it did to the inside the pages! Hehe. Arghhh~. Heehee. I had to cover it up with another layer of paper. But I didn’t want to cover the last page, so I added snow accent paint all around the houses. Also, the houses were stamped too high, so I added another row of houses.

Book pages were created by binding several 120 lbs. cardstock (4 or 5 sheets) and the patterned papers cuz I was using a paper punch (Stampin’ Up! Curly Label) to cut the windows out.

Maybe I’ll coat the cover with Modge Podge glue later.

Well, today we all went to the swimming pool again. And I had to stop by the Angela’s Happy Stamper since it was kinda in the same area. Got another A Muse Palooza stamp, hehe. This was my third visit to the store to buy new AP products, heehee.

I first saw this pop-up card technique on a Stampin’ Up! publication, and then on the SplitCoastStampers.com. I wanted to make one, but didn’t know which stamp to use. Then, I saw one of my favorite stamp company, Elzybells’ challenge, to create a card that includes the colors of my country’s flag.

Well, I’m a Korean-American, so I decided to use the colors from both flags, heehee. Korean flag has Red, Blue, White, and Black.

The girl in the tub stamp gave me the idea to make the pop-up card.

Ackkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk~~~~!!!!!!! Her arm is not connected! It was 2 am when I was working on this, and I forgot to put bubbles over to disguise what’s not there. Poor girl~.
It was my first time using Marvy Uchida Liquid Applique, and didnt’ know how it would turn out. I put Smoochi on top when the Liquid Applique dried a little bit, but the Smoochi never did. I was supposed to wait over night for the Liquid Applique to dry, but I don’t have that kind of patience. So, I messed up the bubbles with my finger prints. Poor girl~.

Is this a window? Or a picture frame? Haven’t decided it yet. =) Doesn’t show on the photo, but I put clear sheet on it.

Connected two pins to create the towel bar. I cut the towel from my baby’s wash cloth. Stamped the “relax” image using the Palette ink, and colored with Copic.
Urmmm… I wasn’t planning on using the red potty, but I remembered that I had two sheets of baby potty training stickers by Jolee’s, and since it was in red, I decided to use it. Heehee.

Originally, I wanted to stamp bubbles and use the sentiment, “May all your troubles drift away like tiny bubbles” since this sentence was what made me buy the stamp set. But, I thought “Take some time for you” fit better with the potty and the mommy relaxing with her disconnected arm =)
